Gulumaal--Review

Director:V.K.Prakash

Producer:Sajitha Prakash

The famous ad-film maker V.K.Prakash has tried his luck a few times in Mollywood, but every time he has tasted failure. This time he has come up with a complete youth oriented movie starring Jayasurya and Kunchakko Boban, who is eager to make a strong comeback.
While coming to the movie, the screenplay and plot of the movie by a debutant one is too good and has something new to offer. But in simple words a good script spoiled a little by poor direction. The director should understand one thing that simply shaking the camera or picturising cartoon images doesn’t make things different but rather make things difficult.
The movie features two ‘Tharikida’ young guys,Jerry and Ravi Varma played by jayasurya and kunchakko respectively.Their quest for making money forms the one line of the story.A rare piece of painting comes into their hand for which a millionaire offers above a crore Indian money. Can they attain this immense wealth is what makes the movie go on.
Perfomance wise,Jayasurya has done a brilliant job.Eventhough his character has a negative shade,he has done it with ease.Kunchakko Boban is well suit to the role but doesn’t have much to perform.Mitra Kurian,as the sister of jayasurya is good.Suraaj Venjaramood even though with his usual numbers got enough applause.Other cast including Salim Kumar,Devan,Bijukkuttan has done their job well.
What makes the film bad is that the director has tried many things to make it different, but all spoiled.Frequent shakes in camera in first half ends in difficulty to watch. Some shots were brilliant, that need to be specified. The songs section was an utter failure. It seemed that the director picturised two songs to make the film a failure.Very very poor song picturisation, and the director needs to learn more about cinema and how it is different from Ad-films. In short a good script spoiled by an amateur director.

Verdict:Time Pass
Rating:3/5
